Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 23, 2026

Year In Health (“Year In Health,” “the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is developed by Gal Aviel. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.

Year In Health is designed around a simple principle: your health data belongs to you. The App is built as a local-first experience. Your health data is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.

Summary

Year In Health does not create user accounts, does not operate a backend database for user health records, does not sell health data, and does not use health data for advertising or tracking.

Important: Not Medical Advice

Year In Health is intended for informational, educational, and personal wellness purposes only. The App is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any disease, medical condition, or health issue.

Health metrics, trends, summaries, charts, goals, achievements, and insights shown in the App are generated from data available through Apple Health and should not be treated as clinically accurate measurements or professional medical advice.

Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, symptoms, lifestyle changes, exercise routines, or health decisions. If you think you may have a medical emergency, contact emergency services immediately.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Year In Health does not require you to create an account and does not ask for login credentials. We do not maintain a server-side profile about you.

2. Apple Health / HealthKit

The core functionality of Year In Health relies on Apple’s HealthKit framework. The App requests permission to read selected health and fitness data from the Apple Health app so it can generate your yearly health recap, charts, goals, achievements, comparisons, and shareable summaries.

Health access is controlled by iOS. The App can only access the Health data types that you explicitly approve in the Apple Health permission screen.

Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the App may request read access to data types such as:

The App uses this information only to provide its in-app features. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or selling data to third parties.

You can change or revoke Health permissions at any time by opening:
Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices → Year In Health

3. Local Processing

Health data retrieved by Year In Health is processed locally on your device. This includes calculations, yearly summaries, chart generation, goal progress, achievements, year-over-year comparisons, and recap poster generation.

Please note that Apple Health and iCloud are controlled by Apple and by your personal device settings. If you use iCloud features for Health or device backups, those are managed by Apple and your Apple ID settings, not by Year In Health.

4. User Preferences and Personalization

You may enter optional information in the App, such as your display name, selected year, goals, preferences, or settings. This information is used to personalize the App experience.

These preferences are stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage mechanisms such as UserDefaults/AppStorage. They are not sent to us.

5. Widgets

Year In Health may provide Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets. To support widgets, the App may store limited summary information locally in an App Group container on your device, such as aggregated yearly progress, selected metrics, or preview values.

Widget data is used only to display information on your device. It is not uploaded to us.

6. Shareable Posters and Images

Year In Health may allow you to create and share recap posters, images, or summary cards. These images are generated locally on your device.

Sharing is optional and controlled by you. When you choose to share an image, iOS may present a share sheet that lets you select another app or destination. The handling of shared content by another app is governed by that app’s own privacy practices.

7. Notifications

Year In Health may offer optional notifications, such as reminders or daily motivation messages. Notifications are used to improve the app experience and are not used to collect health data.

You can manage notification permissions at any time in:
Settings app → Notifications → Year In Health

8. Demo Mode and Sample Data

Year In Health may include a sample/demo mode for testing, preview, or App Review purposes. Demo mode uses fictional sample data and does not require access to your personal Apple Health data.

Sample data is used only to demonstrate the App’s features, screens, charts, goals, achievements, widgets, and recap experience. It does not represent real health information about you.

9. In-App Purchases and Tips

Year In Health may include optional in-app purchases or tips processed through Apple’s StoreKit system. Payments are handled by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.

Apple may provide developers with purchase-related information such as transaction status, product identifier, sales reports, or refund status. This information is used only to provide and manage the purchase experience. It is not combined with your health data.

10. Analytics and Diagnostics

Year In Health does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs as of the date of this Privacy Policy.

If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers through your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated and anonymized App Analytics or crash information. This may include information such as installation counts, crash reports, performance data, device type, region, or retention statistics.

Apple App Analytics does not give us access to your personal HealthKit data.

11. Location and Workout Routes

Year In Health does not continuously track your location in the background for advertising or tracking purposes.

If you grant access to workout route data through Apple Health, the App may display or summarize route-related information associated with workouts, such as workout places, areas, or maps. This data is used only for the relevant app features and is processed locally on your device.

12. Children’s Privacy

Year In Health is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not operate user accounts or a server-side health database, we do not knowingly collect children’s personal data on our servers.

Users should only grant access to Apple Health data if they are legally permitted to do so and understand the information being shared with the App.

13. Your Choices and Controls

You remain in control of your data and permissions.

14. Data Security

Year In Health is designed to minimize data exposure by processing health information locally on your device. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

We recommend keeping your device, Apple ID, and iOS software secure and up to date.

15. Limitation of Liability

The App is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. The developer makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, or suitability of the App or the information displayed.

Health summaries and insights are based on data recorded by your iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple Health, or third-party apps that write data to Apple Health. If the source data is incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, duplicated, or missing, the information shown in Year In Health may also be incomplete or inaccurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for damages arising from use of the App, reliance on displayed health information, data inaccuracies, loss of data, or inability to use the App.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or our privacy practices.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
